Life is made memory to memory.
Every days activity, sensations, and feelings are a memory. We preserve parts of each day in our minds, and we can revisit them later if we are mindful of the day and pay attention.
Aromas and smells of things cooking or someone making everyone laugh will pass through your mind unexpectedly. Photographs and feelings will surface for years. You are making those memories today. We are.
Some folks, and I have been this way at times, look ahead and say, “If I can just get past this awful day, this difficult week, this hard month, then I will feel better, happier, different.
If today was all we had, would we wish it away so easily?
You can’t get back this one day or weekend. Once it has passed, it is done. Instead of sadness or regret dive into it and make it a great memory. Be there and live it.
Spring is full of memories.
Thursday night our power went out and it caused all kinds of problems. I had laundry in the wash and just put a load in the dryer. The fridge and freezers were full of food. But, we had something in place to save the frozen stuff for a day.
It was a cold evening in the low 40’s and dark storms passed over, so we lit candles and pulled out the flashlights, dressed a little warmer. It was a bit like camping. Instead of being upset, we just read in bed by flashlight and notified the power company. It was an evening by candlelight in a safe place with someone I love. There were some problems, but the day and night are a memory, a good memory.
A friend of mine lost a great deal in a tornado over the weekend. The miracle is that they heard the siren go off and sheltered in the one room left standing. They lived. It will be only a memory some day instead of a tragic loss of life. Our days are precious.
Let’s plant our feet squarely on the ground and be where we are at this moment, so we will remember it.
I know these moments are precious, so I want my daughter and grandchildren to have a lifetime of memories of spending time with us.
Make some memories, because that is what we will have of today after it passes, and it should be as good as we can live it, no matter the circumstance.
Gather with people you care about. Spring is full of gatherings and traditions to embrace.
Happy Easter! Make some good memories.
For those who have a short time with someone, make it the best possible. Live without regret by living this day with people you care about in a positive way.
For those in very difficult times, I pray you feel the love of God today, right now.
For everyone, I pray you have a happier more fulfilling time with your family and those you care about.
Make some memories. Life passes so quickly.
Make it count.
Barefoot and writing,
Kim

Memories save the day after the day is gone. Live it well.
I Corinthians 15: 3-5
3For what I received I passed on to you as of first importance: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, 4that He was buried, that He was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures, 5and that He appeared to Cephas and then to the Twelve.…
